A Robust Range of Water Removal Strategies: Why SERVPRO Rises to the Top of Restoration Options in Sacramento

9/6/2022 (Permalink)

A picture of our technician extracting water from an apartment building carpet Water heaters and other appliances can dump a large amount of water when they fail. Contact SERVPRO for efficient water removal services.

The quantity of water a broken water heater or washing machine sends into your Sacramento home can be substantial. Household appliances continue to obtain water from the supply lines if a pump or hose breaks or the tank or drum leaks. If the malfunction happens overnight or while you and your family are away at work or school, hundreds of gallons can infiltrate your home. We have experience ridding residences of significant amounts of water, why our team is a preferred community resource.

Risks of Hidden Water

One of the issues faced by professional Sacramento water removal specialists is how to access fluids from a water loss that migrated into building cavities. Leaving the water to drain slowly or eventually evaporate is not an option. Lingering moisture progressively deteriorates building structures and can result in vigorous microbial growth and damage. We are familiar with these threats to your home’s integrity and safety, and this knowledge is why we explore every option to get the water out of every affected space in your home.

Dual Purpose of Controlled Demolition

As water moves from the laundry or utility room into spaces behind walls and above ceilings, building materials wick up moisture. Wet, porous materials quickly become unsalvageable, swelling, and warping. Using careful demolition techniques permit two desired outcomes:

  • Ruined building materials are excised, reducing odors, microbial growth, and the tell-tale distortion of water damage.
  • Removing sections of drywall allows access to the pooled up water and improves airflow and ventilation for more efficient drying.

Methods and Tools Used

Although demolition might appear to be a radical move, it is considered a best practice, why SERVPRO employees learn how to complete it appropriately during the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) training. Our technicians mark the wall 24½ or 48½ inches up, ensuring we make flood cuts above the waterline. Stud finders assist us as we plan the cuts. We choose from among our inventory of tools, relying on our training and experience to select the proper option:

  • Razor knife
  • Drywall saw, or keyhole saw
  • Rotary saw
  • Kett saw
  • Reciprocating saw

When using the power tools, our technicians adjust the cutting depth of saw blades or bits, so they do not penetrate past the drywall. Safety and avoidance of further damage to plumbing, utility lines, or other components is the goal.

The crew we send is highly-qualified in water damage solutions, why SERVPRO of North Sacramento can answer any queries you have about our water removal strategies. Call (916) 587-3438 to schedule an assessment immediately.

Why SERVPRO Uses Extraction Equipment when Mitigating Flood Damaged Homes in Sacramento

8/8/2022 (Permalink)

Picture of our technician extracting water from carpet flooring Don't let the stress of flooding and flood damage get to you! Contact our experienced technicians for water removal and remediation services.

After a flood happens, getting houses and businesses restored to safe and stable condition takes time. The amount of time it takes to recover after a disaster prolongs the stress experienced by everyone in the affected area. Extracting any remaining water trapped inside your residence before we begin drying out your property is 1200 times more effective than just removing water vapor from the air.

This considerable boost is why SERVPRO uses powerful extraction equipment to start working on mitigating and restoring homes in Sacramento experiencing flood damage. We want to reduce your costs, make the process as fast as possible, and restore, instead of replace, as much of your property as possible. The extraction of standing water helps us achieve all of these goals.

Our extraction equipment comes in many sizes. This lets us adapt to any structural components that might keep floodwater trapped in areas. We can swiftly and easily remove water from more than just visible, open spaces of your home.

Inject Dry units let us pull water out from under wooden flooring, when we use the mats, or from below cabinetry flooring, with only the extraction tube. Instead of needing to remove all of the uppermost part of the floor, we only need to remove one or two boards. When we find trapped water, we only need to drill a tiny hole to feed the tubing through and into the cavity.

We also use units that look like regular vacuum cleaners, except they're designed to remove water. These wands move across the floor easily and pull up water from small spaces like bathrooms and closets. For larger areas, we can use a Rover extraction unit. This type works with the weight of a technician who rides while standing, extracting any water below the machine.

After extracting, we can begin drying out your house and its contents. Some of these items do require we throw them away, as they can pose significant health risks. We provide you with a complete inventory of these items, and this can help with insurance claims and replacing them, as well.

SERVPRO of North Sacramento's goal is always to help you recover as quickly as possible, with as little stress and worry. Call (916) 587-3438 for help in recovering after flood damage that affects your Natomas or Sacramento residence.

Don’t go at your Sacramento damages alone, let us help.

The job of a restorer is to slow down or completely stop damages at the point of arrival, then work to reverse those damages until the property is returned to its pre-incident condition. At times, restoration services can be completed without the need for any replacement materials. In situations where problems with the structure or structural contents are evident, a good restorer identifies these issues accurately and arranges for third-party contractors on the homeowner's behalf. SERVPRO of North Sacramento sets high standards for restoration of fire, water, mold and storm damages by relying on a restore rather than replace approach.

Mold

SERVPRO act quickly to repair the immediate mold damage in your Sacramento home while putting in place safeguards to put an end to recurring microbial growth incidents. So when you come across mold growth in your home, contact SERVPRO for an expert assessment and remediation procedure from start to finish.

The common causes of mold problems in a home are the presence of residual moisture in cavities behind walls, fittings, or flooring. Water can come from a variety of sources like slow leaks, heavy rainfall, or worn away sealant in wet rooms. When mold spores come into contact with these damp spots, they settle quickly and begin to propagate, causing unpleasant odors and visible colonies. Often, the visible signs of mold infestation are just the tip of the iceberg, which is why SERVPRO restoration service technicians may need to move items around or remove sections of drywall to gain the full picture.

Mold remediation can span hours, days, or weeks in your Sacramento property. Since mold can germinate overnight, we work hard to shut off the water supply to the infestation. That can be achieved through advanced structural cavity drying equipment or by controlling humidity at a level that discourages microbial growth using dehumidifiers. Porous materials are frequently non-salvageable in an infestation like this but, once the mold is successfully remediated in your Sacramento home, we can replace them to return your home to its preloss condition.

Fire

Understanding the behavior of smoke during a fire is crucial to performing an on-time restoration service of fire damage in your Sacramento home. Hot smokes are attracted to cooler surfaces. When they come into contact with those cool surfaces, soot deposits appear causing odor and soiling. During a fire, the temperature of the room rises significantly resulting in smoke pushing into cupboards, cabinets, or drawers. This process means that the bulk of smoke damages are frequently located inside pieces of furniture rather than in the room itself.

SERVPRO restoration services train our technicians to return the interior of furniture to a preloss condition. One of the challenges in restoring rather than replacing furniture is that interior cavities are unfinished. In high-pressure fires, unfinished natural materials are particularly vulnerable and can absorb large amounts of soot or smoke. In inspecting the interior of furniture, SERVPRO technicians can test for the type of soot they are dealing with, as well as how well the surface can cope with cleaning agents.

When working with wood and natural materials, SERVPRO technicians take extra care to preserve their natural condition. In many situations, a wooden structure can be adequately restored using a combination of light sandblasting with a cleaning solution to clear away soiling. In situations where outer finish sustains smoke damage, we can refinish the furniture to its preloss condition at the end of service.

Water

A water loss recovery incident usually involves large quantities of water in an area of the home that is not designed to withstand it. Small gaps in construction between walls and flooring can allow large quantities of water to migrate into the cavities of your home, presenting an immediate mold and odor issue. Dealing with water damage for Sacramento homeowners is a specialty restoration service that requires professional care and attention to complete effectively.

SERVPRO has technicians with qualifications in applied structural drying (ASD). These qualifications provide a restorer with the tools needed to access cavities in the home and remove residual moisture that may be residing inside. The primary means of drying restricted access areas is by creating air circulation inside the cavity to allow natural evaporation of the offending moisture. Our equipment incorporates heating elements to speed up the evaporation process further and get your home back to its pre-incident condition.

There is some minor deconstruction required to efficiently drywall cavities, which is why Sacramento homeowners should seek professional restoration services. We must remove the baseboard of the wall so that we can drill small holes into the wall without affecting the aesthetic appearance of your home. From there we can attach inject dry equipment or use rapid air-movers fitted with a flex hose to dry the interior cavity thoroughly. Once drying is complete, we can replace the baseboard safe in the knowledge that your property is safeguarded from secondary issues like microbial growth.

Storm

Road overflows can result in backed-up sewage water entering your property. Emergency restoration for storm damage in Sacramento is available twenty-four hours a day via our call-line. We advise that you immediately contact SERVPRO on discovering blackwater in your Sacramento home. Our technicians are equipped with the right personal protective equipment (PPE) to enter the affected area.

Containment of the affected area is essential to gaining the upper hand in a flood situation. SERVPRO technicians can remove or block furniture to remove it from standing water quickly. Using submersible pumps, we can transport much of the contaminated water supply to an open sewer point. However, any porous materials that have come into contact with black water must be discarded and replaced.

Our restoration service encompasses the demolition of drywall. We remove the affected material at up to two feet above the standing water level to ensure any pathogens that may have been absorbed by the material are entirely removed. SERVPRO technicians can then thoroughly disinfect the affected area of your Sacramento home before deodorizing and then replacing the removed drywall with new material to bring your home back to what it was before flood water exposure.

SERVPRO of North Sacramento is an authority on restoration services for your property after storm, fire, water or mold damages. Contact us today at (916) 587-3438 to arrange a visit from our expert technicians.

SERVPRO can Navigate the Insurance Maze

12/29/2021 (Permalink)

Insurance Maze Don't get lost in the maze of insurance; let SERVPRO help!

One of the biggest concerns when dealing with damages to your home or business is, "Will my insurance cover this?" If you are unsure of your coverage or deductible, feel free to call your insurance provider. To find their number simply go to Google, (insurance name) claim phone number. If you cannot find a number for claims, call the customer service number and they will provide you with a number to call. For some insurance providers you have the option of opening a claim online. They will assign an adjuster to you, who will handle your claim. This person works with you and us at SERVPRO of North Sacramento. If for whatever reason you disagree with the adjuster assigned to you, do not be afraid to call the direct line of your insurance provider and request a different adjuster. SERVPRO of North Sacramento works in conjunction with many insurance companies, but we can work with any insurance providers. Even though we work in conjunction with the insurance adjusters, keep in mind at the end of the day your insurance and us here at SERVPRO work for you. Your insurance may tell you to contact a certain restoration/ mitigation company, but it is your choice on who you choose to provide you with service.

An issue a lot of customers tend to run into when dealing with a claim and their adjuster is what restoration and mitigation your insurance will cover or not cover within your policy. Misinformation or saying the wrong thing to your adjuster usually is the reason customers run into an issue with coverage and their insurance. Unless you have been in the restoration or mitigation industry it can be hard to navigate the situation. For example, one of our customers had called us to do a mold inspection. SERVPRO of North Sacramento came out and did the initial inspection and told the customer they needed a mold test. The test results came back positive for mold. The insurance company had denied her claim for the mold mitigation. The reason they denied the claim was because the customer just stated it was mold; the insurance company will assume this was from the customer's negligence, such as ignoring a leak. Wondering why the customer's claim was denied, our office staff contacted the customer, only to find out that the customer recently had fixed a roof leak and this was the cause of the mold growth. After our office staff talked to the adjuster and explained where and what caused the mold, the insurance ended up covering 80 percent of the mitigation work. Which obviously made our customer happy that she wasn't going to have to pay the whole cost out of pocket.

Dealing with insurance adjusters can be difficult because it is their job to protect their company from insurance fraud and not approve fraudulent insurance claims. Some people often think their business is like their baby and would you not apply that same type of thinking to the home you live in. If that's the case, wouldn't you want to defend and stick up for your home or business as if it was one your kids. For a stress-free claims process, let SERVPRO work with your insurance to help manage the insurance process and paperwork. Contact us at (916) 587-3438 if you have questions about how to communicate with your insurance. SERVPRO of North Sacramento really wants to get your home or business back to the way it was so it's "Like it never even happened."

What are IICRC Standards?

According to IICRC website, IICRC Standards serve to develop common, industry-accepted language and terminology that enables us to more universally discuss concepts and procedures regarding cleaning, inspection and restoration

What is IICRC’s role as a Standards Developing Organization?

The IICRC handles all the procedural work involved in developing the standards, which involves many steps including: putting together a Consensus Body (committee of volunteers who write the standards); administering the online workspace; scheduling and organizing all web and in-person meetings; coordinating the public review process; conducting the Consensus Body approval ballot; addressing any appeals as needed; editing the document; getting ANSI approval; and then publishing the final standard. The IICRC’s role in the development of new standards is an important one, as the process includes the participation of key stakeholders within the industry with years of hands-on experience and expertise. ANSI approved IICRC standards are voluntary consensus-based standards that are accepted as the standard of care in the industry.

SERVPRO of North Sacramento specializes in the cleanup and restoration of residential and commercial property after a fire, smoke or water damage event. Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your property, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and soot facts:

  • Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
  • The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of North Sacramento will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

  • Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

  • Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

  • Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.

Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy and respect and your property with care.

Our vehicles Sacramento Residents: We provide immediate service for your water and fire damage restoration day or night!

At SERVPRO of North Sacramento, we understand that many people do not realize just how common home fires are.  According to a survey conducted by the American Red Cross in 2019, many people overestimate their ability to react to a home fire and do not take the necessary steps to keep their loved ones safe.  The American Red Cross states that “Every day seven people in this country die in a home fire and another 36 people are hurt."  They also reported that during the most recent five year period, US fire departments responded to an estimated average of 354,400 home structure fires per year. These fires caused an annual average of 2,620 civilian deaths; 11,220 civilian fire injuries; and $6.9 billion in direct property damage.  It is important to recognize that home fires are the most common disaster people face in the United States.

Many homeowners and tenants do not understand that they have very little time to escape from a home fire.  The rule of thumb is that you have approximately three minutes to escape a house fire that occurs at night when you are sleeping. The earlier a smoke alarm alerts you of a fire, the more likely you will be able to react and get out without injury or loss of life.   One of the reasons you have so little time to escape a house fire is because furniture burns much quicker than it used to because of the materials being used today.  Many types of furniture are now made of polyester and artificial fabrics which are basically petroleum turned into the fabric so they burn quickly.  Furniture used to be made of wool, leather, and cotton and took longer to burn.  In addition, modern homes are often constructed with lightweight construction materials, therefore, fires spread faster and burn hotter and arrive at their ignition point much sooner  All this means you have much less time to escape safely.

AN IMPORTANT REMINDER DURING WILDFIRE SEASON:  Many families choose to live in remote, wooded forests or wildland areas surrounded by trees which can create a real danger to your home due to wildfire.  It is important to know how to protect your home.  One of the many steps to consider is the fire resistance of your home, the land surrounding your home, and the nature of the vegetation that grows near it.  You can locate a homeowner's checklist on the FEMA website that will help you learn what you can do before a wildfire happens in your area.  Do not hesitate to contact your local fire department for information about local fire laws, building codes, and protection measures.  Everyone needs to be ready for emergency evacuation as it may be the only way to protect your family and business in a wildfire. Know where to go and what to bring with you. You should plan several escape routes in case roads are blocked by a wildfire.

SERVPRO of North Sacramento - Biohazard remediation; also known as crime scene cleanup

6/18/2020 (Permalink)

Picture of our technicians in PPE Sacramento Residents: We provide immediate service day or night!

SERVPRO of North Sacramento knows biohazard cleanup can be a stressful and demanding process that requires trained professionals to work long hours and be subjected to a range of catastrophic circumstances.  Biohazard cleanup is NOT the same as a standard cleaning company or janitorial service. Crime scene cleanup is a term applied to forensic cleanup of blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.  It is also referred to as biohazard remediation because crime scenes are only a portion of the situations in which biohazard cleaning is needed. SERVPRO of North Sacramento provides biohazard remediation and recovery services for many biohazard situations.  These include the following:

  • Coronavirus - viral pathogen.
  • Sewage backups.
  • Crime scene cleanup.
  • Natural death cleanup.
  • Suicide cleanup.
  • Homicide cleanup.
  • Accident cleanup.
  • Blood cleanup.
  • Hoarding scenes.

The job of a biohazard cleaner is to thoroughly cleansanitizedisinfect, and deodorize the site where a crime, natural death, suicide, homicide, trauma, or accident occurred.  It is important to understand each service offered and the differences between them:

  • Cleaning removes food and other types of soil from a surface such as a countertop or a plate.
  • Sanitizing reduces the number of pathogens on that clean surface to safe levels.  It is meant to reduce, not kill, the occurrence and growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
  • Disinfecting a surface will “kill” the microscopic organisms.
  • Sterilizing is the process of making something free from bacteria or other living microorganisms.
  • Deodorizing is to remove or conceal an unpleasant smell.

Cleaning alone will always positively contribute to the health of occupants because allergens (a substance that causes an allergic reaction) and microorganisms (a microscopic organism, especially a bacterium, virus, or fungus) are removed from surfaces.  There is still a risk of cross-contamination because the solutions and the cleaning tools used could be spreading disease.

Sanitizing reduces the number of bacteria present by 99.9 percent but it does nothing about viruses and fungus.  Sanitizing is better than cleaning alone, however, the reduction of pathogen populations on environmental surfaces is exponentially better when you disinfect.

Disinfecting is the process of killing (inactivating) harmful and objectionable bacteria, and other microorganisms (pathogenic) by various agents such as chemicals, heat, ultraviolet light, ultrasonic waves, or radiation. Disinfection is usually considered a 99+% kill compared to sterilization that generally attains 100% kill.

Sterililzing is the removal of 100% of the organisms.

SERVPRO of North Sacramento knows biohazard cleanup requires qualified, experienced technicians to handle potentially hazardous materials such as human and animal blood, body fluids, tissue, and an awareness of proper handling of the crime or trauma scene which is critical for the safety of everyone involved.  There is an emotional toll involved in biohazard remediation, therefore, having dedicated professionals who understand the responsibility is key.  At SERVPRO of North Sacramento, our technicians are highly trained and experienced in biohazard cleanup.  We believe the expertise offered is another way of giving back to our community and leaving affected environments, "Like it never even happened."

A Robust Range of Water Removal Strategies: Why SERVPRO Rises to the Top of Restoration Options in Sacramento

The Real Truth Behind Flood Damage Remediation Success in Sacramento

flood damaged living room Don't let the stress of flooding and flood damage get to you! Contact our experienced technicians for water removal and remediation services.

Why SERVPRO Uses Extraction Equipment when Mitigating Flood Damaged Homes in Sacramento

Injecti-Dry units let us pull water out from under wooden flooring, when we use the mats, or from below cabinetry flooring, with only the extraction tube.

Call (916) 587-3438 for help in recovering after flood damage that affects your Natomas or Gardenland residence.

Why SERVPRO is the Authority on Restoration Services here in Sacramento

8/23/2019 (Permalink)

Four SERVPRO vehicles sitting at a red light. Sacramento we will show you Why we are always here for your Sacramento issues.

Mold

We make a point of explaining to customers that mold spores are a natural part of any home environment. Rather than instantly resorting to expensive, and time-consuming, laboratory testing, SERVPRO act quickly to repair the immediate mold damage in your Sacramento home while putting in place safeguards to put an end to recurring microbial growth incidents.

During that time, SERVPRO may need to establish quarantines near the affected area.

In high-pressure fires, unfinished natural materials are particularly vulnerable and can absorb large amounts of soots or smokes.

SERVPRO has technicians with qualifications in applied structural drying (ASD.) These qualifications provide a restorer with the tools needed to access cavities in the home and remove residual moisture that may be residing inside.

From there we can attach injectidry equipment or use rapid air-movers fitted with a flex hose to dry the interior cavity thoroughly. Once drying is complete, we can replace the baseboard safe in the knowledge that your property is safeguarded from secondary issues like microbial growth.

Storm

Road overflows can result in backed-up sewage water entering your property. Emergency restoration for storm damage in Orlando is available twenty-four hours a day via our call-line. Since contamination in water poses a real risk to your health, we advise that you immediately contact SERVPRO on discovering blackwater in your Sacramento home. Our technicians are equipped with the right personal protective equipment (PPE) to enter the affected area without risking infection from harmful pathogens.

Containment of the affected area is essential to gaining the upper hand in a flood situation. SERVPRO technicians can remove or block furniture to remove it from standing water quickly. Using submersible pumps, we can transport much of the contaminated water supply to an open sewer point. However, any porous materials that have come into contact with black water must be discarded and replaced to avoid cross-contamination.

Don’t Let Water Cause Long-Term Sheetrock Damage To Your Sacramento Home

5/16/2019 (Permalink)

Call SERVPRO of North Sacramento at (916) 587-3438 for fast water removal from your home.

Water Removal In Sacramento Uncovers Long-Term Sheetrock Damage

The thing about water damage in a home is often there are two main types of water: visible and invisible. The visible is easily cleaned up, and the surfaces appear dry. The unseen water is moisture that migrates to areas behind baseboards, under flooring, wicked into drywall and in floor joists. All of these scenarios have the potential to bring issues such as mold, foul odors, and damage to building materials.

Our SERVPRO location received a call in the early morning hours for water removal from a Sacramento home. A supply line in an upstairs bathroom broke during the night, and the only thing that saved the situation from being worse was the family dog barking at the water pooling in the bathroom floor.

Why SERVPRO? No matter if the problem is a single room or whole house that needs cleanup from a water loss situation, we have the training and equipment to mitigate any size home disaster.
The homeowner placed towels in the floor to help absorb some of the water per our instructions, and when our technicians arrived a short time later, they began scoping the bathroom to determine where the water is located.

Using both probes and thermal imaging, we determined the floor joists were unaffected, and the concentration of water damage was around the supply line in the bathroom vanity. The state of the sheetrock told the story of a long-term undetected leak. We did a controlled demolition of the warped sheetrock so the interior of the wall cavity could be dried. We noted no signs of mold growth despite the evidence of prolonged moisture in the area.

Air movers and dehumidifiers dried the vanity area, and then our technicians cleaned and disinfected the affected areas. After confirming the wall cavity had no residual moisture, we suggested necessary repairs to fully restore the bathroom to its preloss condition and offered our Building Services.

Call SERVPRO of North Sacramento at (916) 587-3438 for fast water removal from your home. Our team of certified technicians can be onsite within hours of your initial call and make it “Like it never even happened.”

Why a Fast Reaction Time is Important to Mitigating Water Damage in Sacramento

3/25/2019 (Permalink)

We have the equipment to handle any size water loss event.

The Right Extraction Tools to Aid Your Sacramento Home

When water loss incidents affect your Sacramento home, you only have a small window of time before absorption and saturation from the exposed materials becomes too considerable to salvage with conventional restoration approaches. While our professionals fixate on protecting original construction materials whenever possible, this is not always the most cost-effective or efficient approach. With an immediate response to the emergency, we have a much higher success rate in preserving these saturated elements.

While we have a comprehensive approach to restoration from water extraction to full-scale reconstruction for Sacramento homes, the severity of the water damage often depends on the reaction time of the homeowner. With water loss incidents that can leave standing water throughout areas of your home, you have to react quickly to shut off the main supply of water to your home to prevent further damage and reach out to qualified IICRC-certified technicians like our SERVPRO team.

As a skilled recovery team, our technicians arrive with a production truck full of both extraction and drying equipment to mitigate water damage and loss as promptly as possible. Extraction is vital to begin right away as continued exposure of already saturated elements can begin to warp and distort materials, rendering them unable to get protected and preserved with our effective restoration approaches. Distorted flooring, drywall, or ceiling material must get removed and replaced in the reconstruction phase.

Our SERVPRO team can also work to protect exposed elements with effective drying efforts that begin with high-velocity air movers and either LGR or desiccant dehumidifiers. We also have specialized equipment for specific damages such as the injecti-dry system and drying mats to dry out damaged flooring and inaccessible areas. We have several drying units available on our production trucks, allowing us to dry out the entirety of the damaged areas, working to reduce overall moisture content as quickly as possible.

Not only can efficient extraction and drying protect the construction materials of your home, but it can reduce the possibility of secondary effects like mold growth from taking root. If you want to make water damage “Like it never even happened,” give our SERVPRO of North Sacramento rapid response team a call today at (916) 587-3438.

Why Our Experts Are The Best At Handling Flood Damage Restoration In Sacremento

3/8/2019 (Permalink)

We offer packets to store your belongings while we restore your home. We act quick, have the right equipment and are at your service 24/7.

Why SERVPRO? For Professional Flood Damage Restoration In Sacramento Homes

We are already ahead this year for rain in Sacramento, and the flooded roads, businesses, and homes on the news show us how bad it is every night. The forecast is not exactly dry either.

Flood damage to Sacramento homes in this situation takes far more than just moving furniture off the floor and setting up fans to dry the interior. SERVPRO response teams train to quickly inspect and remove not restorable structural property, dry and clean floors, and thoroughly dry the interior so it safe and comfortable for occupation once more.

Damage in this situation results from outside storm water which contains debris, soil, and other contaminants. Before and after removing the water, our technicians spray every surface and item touched by the flood water with an antibacterial agent to eliminate the immediate health threat.

As they clear each room, team members examine the building material for damage. While drywall is excellent for interior walls, it can quickly begin to dissolve and crumble after it absorbs too much water. If panels already show these signs, SERVPRO technicians remove them since each is cheaper to replace than to expend the labor hours trying to cut away affected sections and replace or patch them.

Carpets are not restorable to a 100 percent clean condition after a flood. We remove and dispose of them immediately, especially to prevent further damage to wood flooring underneath them. Technicians use another antibacterial cleaner to scrub contaminants from wood flooring and to clean concrete surfaces as well.

As team members complete these tasks, others lower the humidity inside the home. They use fans to pull damp air from inside each home, and air movers to replace the damp air with a warm, dry alternative. To speed up the natural evaporation process, technicians also install dehumidifiers to draw water from the air; each one can remove over 20 gallons of water every 24 hours, depending on the humidity level.

If your home flooded or is still underwater, call us here at SERVPRO of North Sacramento. Our goal for every resident is to dry, clean, and restore their homes to a safe condition. To schedule an inspection, contact our office at (916) 587-3438 today.

Restoring flood damage to your Sacramento home begins with a thorough inspection of your property by our experienced experts.
