Our SERVPRO Team Recovers a Water-Damaged North Sacramento Home

What you can see in the video is the result of a category 3 water loss incident that occurred in a local North Sacramento home. To restore the damaged elements entirely, our professionals on-site had to work quickly to both remove the affected materials and to protect the unaffected areas of the home from potential harm. The situation occurred from a toilet backing up into the bathroom hallway and bedroom on the second floor of the property. The spread of this grossly contaminated water brought it to the first floor, affecting drywall and a cabinet in the kitchen area.

With contaminated water, the safest solution for our restoration team is to remove exposed materials entirely. Before we can begin that demolition work, however, the materials must get tested for the presence of asbestos. During this time, our Contents Department could pack-out at-risk items from the cabinets of the kitchen and the affected upstairs bedroom for direct cleaning and disinfection off-site.

With the results returning negative from the asbestos assessment, we could proceed with removing damaged elements like drywall and the single kitchen cabinet to expose beams and studs beneath. We covered up the flooring in the kitchen area to prevent accidental damage through the controlled demolition process. What was left in the areas to get restored was cleaned thoroughly with our HEPA vacuums and disinfected. Unaffected cabinets in the kitchen were also contained to prevent damage from demolition or exposure to active mold spores in a moist environment.

Our SERVPRO team set up drying equipment on the exposed studs and beams to prevent lingering moisture allowing the appropriate conditions for mold growth. Equipment like our air movers and dehumidifiers can substantially reduce any present moisture and protect these remaining structural elements from distortion or degradation.

With our advanced equipment and extensive training, we overcame the damage in this local house after a substantial water loss incident with contamination hazards. Our SERVPRO of North Sacramento technicians can help you to overcome any emergency you might experience as well. Give us a call today at (916) 587-3438.
